How can European, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern states act in order to ensure their pacific coexistence while regulating  potential conflicts between different religious communities?

We will aim at understanding whether states are really successful in fulfilling this task, as well as which normative tools and modalities they employ and what official position a multicultural state tends to embrace when it comes to the topic of religion.
