DAY ONE

Conference
"Protecting human rights in conflicts: from investigation to prosecution"

11:00 - 13:00                  Teaching Hub (via Corridoni, 20)

The aim of the conference is to analyse in depth how human rights and humanitarian law violations can be monitored through investigations and reports by international institutions and NGOs, and how they can be punished accordingly - also for the purpose of future prevention - from different international courts, in particular the International Criminal Court (ICC) and International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The first part of the conference will focus on the gathering of evidence of violations of the international law, with a particular attention to the difficulties encountered in their retrieval and the differences in the work of NGOs and officials of International Organizations.

In the second part, the influence that these relationships may have on international courts will be analyzed, with a particular emphasis on the procedure for the admission of evidence in trials following major violations of international law.
