DAY ONE

Conference
A FURTHER CATASTROPHE:
Environmental Disasters in Post-Conflict Aftermath
11:00 - 13:00 Room 2.2 Pad. Gaddi Morgagni
The conference seeks to explore the issue of environmental disasters in areas affected by armed conflicts. The event will be structured into three parts.
The first part is focused on a visual storytelling that retrace environmental damage caused by wars and conflicts;
The second part is an in-depth analysis of post-conflict consequences on the environment, with a focus on social injustices, and areas of vulnerability, with particular attention to the humanitarian consequences of conflicts, environmental disasters, and migration policies.

Giovanni Porzio
Italian journalist, writer, and photojournalist, best known for his work as a war correspondent and international reporter.
In his journalistic career, he has focused on post-conflict contexts and crisis areas, documenting the humanitarian consequences of wars and political instability.
Through on-the-ground reporting, he has highlighted how, in post-war settings, gaps in legal protection, exploitation, and widespread vulnerability emerge, particularly along migration routes. His contribution is significant for understanding, from an empirical perspective, how the absence or weakness of the rule of law affects the protection of human rights.
Sara Del Dot
She is a professional Italian journalist and video reporter, active in the fields of human rights, migration, and environmental issues.
Her work focuses on crisis contexts, social injustices, and areas of vulnerability, with particular attention to the humanitarian consequences of conflicts, environmental disasters, and migration policies. She has produced articles and video reports on topics such as ethnic persecution, press freedom, and humanitarian crises, adopting an approach aimed at giving voice to marginalized groups.
